Beware of the large Fitness Franchises. Most of these shady operations prosper by telling the public what they want to hear and what they think is true. A particular popular example of this type of predatory business promises a "non-intimidating" fitness center filled with an abundance of inferior, toy-like machines and cardio stations. Instead of delivering a viable way to achieve personal fitness, they are, in reality, doing great harm to public health and wellness. First, it's been repeatedly demonstrated that beginners DO NOT belong on machines. However, machines are being promoted here because they require practically zero instruction. Secondly, it is professionally irresponsible for a "fitness" center to encourage the consumption of tootsie rolls, pizza, and bagels.
